Opened Total Automotive June 1st 1986
After graduating from Erie Community College with a degree in Automotive Technology in 1983, I embarked on a fulfilling journey in the automotive industry.
In 1986, I founded Total Automotive, where I have dedicated myself to providing top-notch service to our customers. As a master ASE technician, I continuously strive for excellence in my craft. Beyond my professional endeavors, I have been happily married to Ann for 33 years, and we are proud parents of twin boys who are now 32 years old. In addition to my family and business commitments, I have also been deeply involved in my community. I am a life member of the Eggertsville Fire Company, where I had the honor of serving as Chief from 2000 to 2005. Currently, I am a member of the SUNY Erie College Automotive Advisory Board, where I contribute my expertise to help shape the future of automotive education and training. My diverse experiences and commitments have shaped me into a well-rounded individual dedicated to excellence in both my personal and professional life.

Ann’s career journey has been a testament to her versatility and dedication. Beginning in the restaurant industry as a cook and transitioning into management roles, Ann honed her skills before taking a break to raise our twins.
Upon joining Total Automotive, she swiftly adapted to the intricacies of bookkeeping in the automotive repair business. Over the past 28 years, Ann has become a master at tracking and managing all our bookkeeping needs, ensuring the smooth financial operations of our business. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ann finds joy in cooking, reading, and cherishing moments with our family. Her influence has been profound in shaping a culture of unity and camaraderie at Total Automotive, fostering a sense of family among our team members and customers alike. Chris Johnson

Manager

Chris graduated from UTI with a degree in Automotive studies and subsequently gained experience in various facets of the industry, starting as a technician in the dealer world before transitioning into parts sales.
His journey with our business began when he served as a parts sales representative for one of our vendors. Recognizing his talent and potential, I approached him to join our team as a service advisor, a role he has excelled in for the past decade. Chris’s tenure speaks volumes about his dedication and loyalty. Not only does he possess exceptional customer service skills, but he also exhibits genuine care and concern for both our staff and clientele. His ambition to progress within the company is palpable, and he has recently assumed responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the shop. We’ve had discussions about integrating him into our succession plan, acknowledging his pivotal role in the future of our business, although the specifics of his future position are still under consideration.
Mike Adam

Mike Adam

Sevice Adviser

Mike joined our team in February as our newest addition, bringing a wealth of experience to the table. Prior to joining us, he owned his own shop several years ago.
Additionally, he served as an area manager for Valvoline Oil Change in Western New York and worked as a service adviser at a local large dealership. Mike’s extensive background in the automotive industry has proven invaluable, particularly in facilitating Chris’s transition into his new responsibilities. His arrival has provided the expertise we needed to further strengthen our team and enhance our operations.

Technician

With an impressive 45 years of experience in independent repair shops, Doug’s expertise is invaluable to our organization.
When we purchased the building he was working for the previous owner, we extended an offer for him to join our team, a decision we’ve been grateful for over the past nine years. Doug is characterized by his unwavering dedication and steady work ethic, bringing a sense of calm to our workplace every day. While he may occasionally encounter challenges with new technology, his commitment to his work remains steadfast. Despite nearing retirement age, Doug continues to show up with enthusiasm, demonstrating no desire to retire just yet. When the time comes for him to transition, we are committed to supporting him in that process, acknowledging the significant contributions he has made to our team over the years.

Adam has been with us for nearly a year and has already made significant strides within our organization.
He swiftly transitioned into a leadership position within the shop, showcasing his natural aptitude for management. In addition to his role as a shop leader, Adam has taken on the responsibility of mentoring our interns, demonstrating his commitment to fostering growth within our team. Furthermore, he has emerged as our go-to specialist in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), highlighting his expertise in this critical area of automotive technology. Anthony Lacey

Technician

Anthony brings 12 years of valuable experience in automotive shops to our team, having joined us in February.
Recognizing the importance of a supportive work environment, Anthony sought out a place where he could thrive professionally. His dedication and strong work ethic are evident, but we’ve also identified a need for additional life guidance and support. In our efforts to nurture his growth, we are focused on building his self-confidence and providing the resources necessary for his professional development. One of our primary goals is to assist Anthony in obtaining his first ASE certifications, a milestone that he expressed was not offered to him in previous shop environments. By investing in his skills and confidence, we aim to empower Anthony to reach his full potential and achieve success in his career.
Dave Kuchta

Dave Kuchta

General Service Technician

Dave’s journey into the automotive industry began unexpectedly when he, a customer’s son, expressed interest in learning about car maintenance while picking up their vehicle.
In response, I invited him to spend time with us on Fridays to gauge his interest. After a year of immersing himself in the environment, Dave had acquired enough knowledge to earn a position as a GS tech. Currently, he is in the midst of completing his first year in the automotive tech program at SUNY EIRE College, demonstrating his commitment to furthering his skills and education in the field. Despite his progress, Dave grapples with self-confidence issues, often hesitating to take initiative and fearing mistakes. We’re actively engaged in supporting him through this challenge, encouraging him to trust in his abilities and empowering him to problem-solve independently. Our goal is to help Dave realize his full potential and become a confident and proficient automotive technician.
Damone Miller

Damone Miller

General Service Technician

Damone initially joined our team as an intern from ECC and has since transitioned into the role of a GS Tech.
While he possesses the necessary skills and knowledge, he still has a few outstanding courses to complete his degree, which I am actively assisting him with to ensure he graduates successfully. Damone’s quiet demeanor sometimes makes it easy to overlook his presence in the shop, but his dedication and quick learning ability are evident. As he takes on increasingly challenging tasks, we’ve identified an area for improvement in his speed. However, it’s worth noting that Damone’s meticulous approach to Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI) results in flawless execution, albeit at a slower pace due to the attention to detail he devotes to each task. With continued support and guidance, we aim to help Damone enhance his efficiency without compromising the quality of his work.
